Curitiba Day 2 Part 1

We woke up well rested for our busy day touring the beautiful City of Curitiba. We had a lot of stops and sights so see and it was supposed to be a hot day, around 27 degree high.

We started off the day with a tour of the botanical gardens, it was a really nice park right in the heart of the City.

Curitiba Day 1

We checked into the hotel and took a bit of time to get ready before we headed our for lunch. Unfortunately it was Mother's day so everywhere was very busy, we found a great place that only had a 20 minute wait, the restaurant had food and cachaca outside to make the wait easier. We were all excited to try our first Churrasco! And let me tell you, they did not stop bringing us food, we all needed a nap after this lunch.

Our Arrival in Curitiba

After a nice short hour long flight to Curitiba we arrived but found 3 out of 5 of our checked luggage had ended up on a different plane......wow! Luckily that plane was arriving in an hour so it wasn't a big deal. At leas there were no more planes in our near future! So we went to meet the local Rotarians that were there to welcome us.

The local Rotarians greeted us with open arms and helped us with the luggage situation....Many thanks to these great people!

Getting to Brazil.......Part 3

So we made it to Sao Paulo on Saturday around 10pm but had to be put up in a hotel as there were no connecting flights to Curitiba. Everything was great on this end though and we were treated so well by the locals. We flew to Curitiba on Sunday morning after a bit of a struggle to get us all booked on a flight together, only 3 out of 5 of us were confirmed but Rodrigo, a local from Curitiba helped us out at the airport, such a nice guy!

Getting to Brazil.....Part 2. Wait, are we still in Canada?

So we boarded the plane and waited.........a few small issues but we got to the runway and there was no turning back now, or was there? The pilot announced that there was a fuel imbalance in the wings and that we had to go back to the gate, even he didn't seem impressed. So there we waited while they worked on the problem. A bit over 3 hours later they announced that the flight was being cancelled and re-scheduled for 11am the following day.

After this line, we boarded buses to take us to a hotel that wasn't expecting us, some of us checked in around 5:30am after yet another line, some went home for the night as it was quicker, and I just went back to the airport and drank lots of coffee instead of sleeping.

Getting to Brazil.......Part 1

As we all arrived at Pearson airport in Toronto on Friday night we were so eager to get the adventure started! After planning for months, it was finally here and I personally had a permanent smile for days before this. We all arrived and were anxious to get on the plane and get the 10 hour flight started, departure time around 11:30pm.

Here we come Brazil!
